Yates County Cemetery Project
Part VI: Cemeteries in the town of Potter

French Cemetery: Notes

French cemetery This is one of the oldest public cemeteries in the town and contains the burials of many of the original settlers of Rushville (the others are in Baldwins Corners Cemetery just over the county line in Gorham). It is abandoned and suffered many years of neglect before being cleaned out in recent years by the town crew.

A few burials in this cemetery were documented from a diary kept by George Walther between 1871 and 1929 and transcribed for the Rushville Cemetery Association in 1965 by Wilson W. Fitch.
